ABOUT ME

-
I'm a full-time writer, editor, and sometimes-photographer with a focus on travel, the outdoors, and adventure (and no, that doesn't have to mean staying in tents!)
-
I'm the senior outdoor editor at Matador Network and the Tahoe Editor at SFGate.com
-
I write frequently for Trip Savvy, The Knot, and Popular Mechanics, among others.
-
My first solo title, Hiking Lake Tahoe: A History and Guide, published in August 2021
-
Despite living in the mountains I try to scuba dive as much as possible and have several advanced certifications
-
But if I'm not diving, I'm mountain biking (or thinking about it!)
-
As a freelance writer and editor, my stories focus mostly on adventure and outdoor travel, gear and sustainability, and general interest "mountain lifestyle" stories. Some of my favorite recent stories include a guide to finding Bigfoot in Northern California and a long-form feature on the ethics of Pablo Escobar-themed narco-tourism.
-
I often shoot photography to accompany my stories – especially in remote places – and have had photo published in Outside Magazine, TripSavvy, Frommers, and more.
-
I've written for AFAR, California Wedding Day, TheKnot, Real Weddings California, Style Mag, Culture Trip, the SF Chron, SkyLife Magazine, Canadian Traveller Magazine, Outside Magazine, Lonely Planet, Citizen Femme, The Spruce, Insider, Forbes, Mental Floss, Fodors, Frommers, Playboy, The Discoverer, Tech Radar, How Stuff Works, and more.
-
I'm good at bar trivia, knitting, and making friends with neighborhood dogs
